“The joy of Love is experienced by Families is also the Joy of the Church!”
First Communion classes begin August 27, 2017, Sunday Mornings – 10:50am to 12:30pm
Welcome to Our Lady of Grace Sacrament Preparation Program! This is an exciting time for your family. During the next several months, your family will be preparing for your child to receive the Sacraments of Reconciliation (Penance) and Eucharist (Communion). Please take a few moments to read the following information:
What is it? The program is final preparation for students, 2nd grade and above, for the reception of First Reconciliation and First Eucharist. Preparation is done through family gatherings and attendance at Sunday Liturgy. Each child attends a session with an adult: Parent, Godparent, Grandparent, or Relative (must be known ahead of time). We encourage the whole family to attend! Childcare will be provided for younger children. There will be a light breakfast as part of each morning. Families will be expected to take turns with helping hospitality and clean-up.
Who May Participate? The Sacrament Preparation Program is for the students who are entering at least the 2nd year of religious education or Faith Formation. Students must have good attendance during the previous year and have a good understanding of the material that was covered.
When and Where does it take place? The gatherings take place in Stack Center after attending the 9:30am Mass or before attending the 1:15pm Spanish Mass, according to the First Communion Schedule (see below for the link). Mass attendance at OLG on the day of the gathering is part of the preparation.
What is the Cost? $100 for the 1st child and $45 for each sibling.
Additional Information? The gathering dates shown in the First Communion schedule (click on the Flyer link below) are the only gatherings offered this year for this important Sacramental Preparation. They are required. If, for some reason, a parent/guardian cannot attend (due to work or illness), please make arrangements for another family member or family friend to attend, as students need a family member or adult at all the gatherings. If your child is ill on a Sunday gathering day, please contact the Whole Family Faith Center (510-582-9266, ffc@olgcv.org) and leave a message.
Please complete the 2 forms below to register your child. Once completed, please submit your forms and copy of your child’s Baptism Certificate and payment (cash or check) to the Church Office.
