Serving the Catholic Community of Castro Valley

Announcements

**”A Return To The Eucharist”: Bishop Barber shares his pastoral letter encouraging people to return to Mass and announces the suspension of the dispensation from attending Mass effective Sunday, August 15th. Please click below to view his letter in its entirety.

**FESCO Shuffle – Thank you!: Thank you to all the parishioners and friends who donated to FESCO this year. Team OLG raised $4,713 and the entire virtual event raised $70,205 to date.  The generosity of this community is amazing every year and the families of FESCO are the beneficiaries.

**FESCO Backpack Drive: As you know, every summer FESCO, (Family Emergency Shelter Coalition), sponsors a backpack drive that our church generously supports. This drive supplies the children of the FESCO families with school supplies they will need for the upcoming academic year.  We are hoping that you will consider participating in this event.

If you would like to participate, we are asking you to “adopt” a student.  An organization has generously agreed to donate backpacks, so you would just need to provide the supplies for a backpack and put them in a paper bag.  For the student you “adopt,” we will give you the list of supplies specific to your student’s grade level.  After all the supply bags are turned in, we will transfer the supplies to the donated backpacks. We estimate that all of the needed supplies for a backpack will cost $30 – $50 depending on the grade level and where you shop.

You can sign up for a backpack at the entrances to the church after the Masses this weekend of July 10th – 11th.   You can also adopt a student through Jay at the Parish Office.  You will need to return your bag of supplies to the church or Parish Office on or before Monday, July 26th. (Parish Office is closed on weekends.)

**Pan de Vida For Vocations: You are invited to join Bishop Barber and the Conventual Friars of the Renewal as we support young men and women who discern to answer God’s call.

These protocols are all on the “honor system”.   No one will be forced or requested to “prove” their vaccination status to participate in worship. No one will be criticized if they choose not to be vaccinated, and/or wear a mask inside Church.

Missals will be available at the beginning of Advent. Worship Aids for the Sunday 9:00am liturgy are still available on our website and will continue to be sent each Thursday via Flocknotes.

The singing of hymns and acclamations will resume. The Sign of Peace should continue to be exchanged without physical contact, except for family members of the same household.
